My evolution in Electronic literacy

Have you ever thought what life would be without technology? Nowadays electronic literacy is very important for communication, presentations, job, school etc. Technology helps people to facilitate everyday tasks and every human being has different experiences and viewpoints about technology. In the past, some people thought that using technology could be very hard, impossible and expensive, but as time has gone by, almost everybody knows how to use Electronic tools. This essay will explain some important aspects about the use of technology like my first time using E-tools, advantages and disadvantages, some experiences using technology and my future talking about expectations and professional research with electronic tools.

The first time that I used a computer was at elementary school when I was in 5th grade. I had a computing class and the teacher explained how to switch on a computer. After that we used some word processors. I did not use internet until one year later, for different reasons. First, because it was not very easy to find a place with internet. Second because I did not how to use it and third, the cost was very expensive. But with time I have learned to use internet. Electronic tools have a lot of advantages such as communication, the facilitation of work, entertainment, service, e-commerce etc, but we have to be prepared in order not to suffer the disadvantages of internet such as spamming, threat viruses, pornography, and theft of personal information among others.

I am not going to say that I am an expert using technology, but I know how to use it by previous knowledge that I acquired in high school and because nowadays it is very useful for doing almost everything you want. But my main strengths using technology are for example researching something important in the internet and some word processors because it is used a lot in the everyday life. In contrast, some of my weaknesses using electronic literacy are for example the protection of viruses and I do not like internet shopping because I do not consider it very secure. Technological resources are very useful and they facilitate our life. For example, word processors help us to make writings with some instant correction, statistics, presentations etc. E- Mails optimize time in agreement with communication around the world between business, companies, industries teachers- students etc. Chat rooms help us to know different kind of people. Last one are blogs. They are very useful for teachers in order to share different assignments and activities via internet.

Nowadays, electronic-tools are very useful, and I think that in the future there will be a transformation with technology. Therefore, that transformation will help me in my English language teaching major. My main expectation for electronic tools are the prices in technology, involves such as internet. Moreover, I wish that the cost of computer and technology resources will be cheaper than now. In addition, electronic- tools are very important for my preparation in my major and when I develop my English language teaching, because using electronic tools will help me with students’ communication. Also, through a chat program called Skype, you can communicate around the world and have interaction with people from other countries.

As a conclusion, electronic-tools are very useful for the daily life, specially for communication, education, work, and for research information among others. Every day, I learn different techniques that help me to use technology better. This essay was about the main characteristics of electronic literacy that included how I began using e-tools, advantages, disadvantages, experiences and my own expectations and future using electronic –tools.
